Women’s soccer team battles to 0-0 draw at Kalamazoo
The Olivet College women’s soccer team battled to a 0-0 double overtime draw against Kalamazoo College tonight at MacKenzie Field in Kalamazoo.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 double overtime draw against Kalamazoo College tonight at MacKenzie Field in Kalamazoo.
The Comets saw many opportunities in the first half but were unable to put one away for the lead. Seniors Lauren Vanderhoff and Megan Peplinski, along with sophomore Madeline Maxwell all had shots in the first half. Kalamzoo's defense held strong, and offensively came away with five shots to Olivet's 10.
The Hornets had more success offensively in the second half. As the two teams went back and forth throughout the half, neither team found the back of the net.
During both overtime period, each team had chances on goal. In the sixth minute of the first overtime, sophomore Isabelle Leon ripped a shot which sailed just over the cross bar. Vanderhoff had a shot in each overtime stanza. The second overtime ended with the score remaining 0-0.
Senior Deanna Zolnoski played all 110 minutes in goal for the Comets and ended the game with a total of 10 saves.
With the tie, Olivet finish the regular season with an 8-5-3 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) record to earn the fourth seed in the MIAA Tournament. The Comets will travel to play top-seed Calvin College in the semifinals Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m.
