The Comets came out of the gate ready to hang with the No. 2 team in the MIAA. This game plan was executed well in the first half, keeping the Flying Dutch to eight shots. Senior center-backs Megan Peplinski and Jeanette Fisher held the defense together, and kept the ball in front. Up top, Olivet sophomores Isabelle Leon and Madeline Maxwell added shots on goal to the mix, but had no luck finding the back of the net.
The Comets looked to find their first goal of the game in second half. With Hope looking to push the ball as forward as possible, Olivet's defense stayed strong applying high pressure. In the 74th minute of the game, the Hope forward capitalized on a bad touch by the Comet defense and put the ball away to put the Flying Dutch up, 1-0.
The Comets pushed to try for the equalizer, but they had no luck. Hope continued to press, and although Olivet had counters they could not find the back of the net. With two minutes and 43 seconds left in the game, the Flying Dutch were able to swing the ball into the box and score their second goal of the game.
Senior Deanna Zolnoski played all 90 minutes in goal for the Comets and finished with five saves.
Olivet hosts Trine (Ind.) University Saturday at 2:30 p.m. for their Breast Cancer Awareness game. Prior to the women's game, the Comet men will also play Trine at noon.
