GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to Calvin College, 7-3, at Zuidema Field in Grand Rapids.
The Knights jumped out to a 3-0 lead when they scored three goals in a span of little more than six minutes. Olivet got two goals back to trail only 3-2 at halftime. The first goal was by senior Nicole Borek in the 29th minute. The second was by junior Lauren Vanderhoff with 36 seconds left before halftime. Sophomore Megan Peplinski assisted on the goal.
Calvin opened the second half like it did in the first half by scoring three consecutive goals in a short time span. Freshman Isabelle Leon stopped the run with an unassisted tally in the 67th minute. The Knights capped the scoring in the 75th minute.
For the game, the Comet peppered the goal with 10 shots, including three for Vanderhoff. Leon had two shots. Junior Deanna Zolnoski started the game in goal and played the first 28 minutes and 46 seconds. Sophomore Kori Ramirez finished the game in net and collected five saves.
Olivet closes out the 2014 season Monday afternoon when it travels to play Albion College at 3 p.m.
