NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Olivet College women's soccer team scored a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 shutout victory over Saint Mary's (Ind.) College today at the SMC Soccer Field in Notre Dame, Ind.
The Comets scored only 1:52 left before halftime when senior Nicole Borek's corner kick sailed inside the net at the far post. Olivet extended its lead to 2-0 in the 70th minute. Sophomore Natalie Desautel played the ball forward to the right flank, where freshman Isabelle Leon one-timed the ball into the net from 15 yards out.
For the game, the Comets had a 14-12 advantage in total shots, including +4 edge (9-5) in shots-on-goal. Borek topped the team with three shots. Sophomore Kelsey Dietzen, senior Olivia Gardner and junior Lauren Vanderhoff each collected two shots. Junior Deanna Zolnoski provided the clean sheet in net, recording five saves.
Olivet plays a noon game Saturday at Calvin.
