Women’s soccer: Comets lose 4-0 at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team lost 4-0 to Hope College this afternoon in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest at Van Andel Stadium in Holland.
The Flying Dutch scored the only goal they would need in the 22nd minute on a breakaway by Erin Jipping. Olivet's best opportunity to score came at the 31:07 when freshman Dominque Giroux's shot sailed wide of the near post.
Hope netted two goals in a 110-second span to start the second half. The first was a tap-in at the far post, while the second was a header off a corner kick. The Flying Dutch capped their scoring with a 28-yard blast on a free kick.
The Comets finished the game with only three shots, one each for Giroux and freshmen Rachael Durocher and Sydney Malthaner. Junior Deanna Zolnoski started the game in goal. She faced 13 shots and made six saves in nearly 76 minutes of action. Sophomore Kori Ramirez finished the game in net and did not need to make a save.
Olivet hosts Alma College next Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m.
