OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to Kalamazoo College today in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association game inside the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Hornets scored the only goal they would need in the 10th minute when Madison Moote found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Maria Rich. Olivet best's scoring chance in the first half came in the 16th minute. Freshman Rachael Durocher had some separation between her and the defender, and sent a shot sailing wide of the goal. The Comets had a couple more scoring opportunities in the second half, but each time the keeper was able to save the ball.
For the game, Kalamazoo doubled up Olivet in shots, 14-7. The Hornets put eight shots on frame, while the Comets had three on-goal. Junior Jordyn Mackool led the way with two shots. Junior Deanna Zolnoski played all 90 minutes in goal and made seven saves.
Olivet travels to play Hope College Saturday at noon.
