ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to Adrian College, 2-1, tonight under the lights at Docking Stadium in Adrian.
The Bulldogs scored the first goal in the 20th minute when Carlin O'Malley had her shot go through the keeper's hands and into the goal from close range. The Comets tied the game around 10 minutes later. Senior Nicole Borek sent a pass on the ground into the 12-yard area, where junior Lauren Vanderhoff chipped the ball over the keeper and into the net for her second goal of the season. The score remained 1-1 at halftime.
Olivet had the first scoring chance in the second half, but a shot from inside the box by freshman Isabelle Leon was saved. Lauren Badalmente scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on a shot from 19 yards out.
The Comets recorded only six shots in the game, with three being placed on-goal. Six different players had a shot. Junior Deanna Zolnoski played all 90 minutes in goal and made four saves on seven Bulldog shots.
Olivet will take a break from conference play to host Rochester College Saturday at noon.
