Wrestling team competes at Alma College Open
The Olivet College wrestling team competed today at the Alma College Open, held inside the Art Smith Arena in Alma.

ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team competed today at the Alma College Open, held inside the Art Smith Arena in Alma.
- The Comets sent 17 wrestlers to the open tournament, which featured no team scores.
- Olivet had eight wrestlers finish in top six of their respective weight class.
- Freshman Owen Guilford had a 4-0 record to win the 165-pound title. His wins were a 17-3 major decision in the first round, 9-4 decision in the quarterfinals, 5-1 decision in the semifinals and 10-6 decision in the championship match.
- Senior Nicholas Worden placed second in the 174-pound bracket. He pinned his first-round opponent, won a 10-1 major decision in the quarterfinals and won a 6-3 decision in the semifinals before getting pinned in the championship match.
- Finishing third were freshman Jerry Hall at 165 pounds and sophomore Austin Engle at 197 pounds. Hall had 4-1 record, including third-periods in each of his first two matches. After losing his first match, Engle bounced back to win five straight matches. Three of the wins were first-period pins and a fourth was technical fall.
- Fifth-place performances were by senior Garret Cleveland at 125 pounds and freshman Jacob Roberts at 184 pounds. Three of Cleveland's wins were pins.
- Placing sixth were freshman Kyle Schaaf at 133 pounds and senior Kamyab Kamali at 184 pounds
- Olivet hosts Alma College for its final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual match next Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m.
