Wrestling team places third at Mid-States Invitational
Led by first-place finish by junior Nicholas Worden at 174 pounds, the Olivet College wrestling team finished in third-place at the 2019 Mid-States Invitational, hosted by Alma College and inside the Art Smith Arena in Alma.

ALMA, Mich. – Led by first-place finish by junior Nicholas Worden at 174 pounds, the Olivet College wrestling team finished in third-place at the 2019 Mid-States Invitational, hosted by Alma College and inside the Art Smith Arena in Alma.
- Teams were allowed unlimited entries at each weight class, and the top score at each weight class counted towards the team total.
- Wabash (Ind.) College had at least one wrestler at each weight and accumulated 214 total points.
- The Comets had wrestlers at eight of the 10 weight classes to place third with 116 points.
- Fourteen of the 15 Olivet wrestlers placed in the top eight of his respective weight class.
- Worden had a 4-0 record, with a technical fall and three minor decisions.
- Freshman Owen Miller was 3-1 to finish as the runner-up in the 285-pound bracket. His wins were a pin, forfeit and a minor decision.
- Finishing in third-place were freshman Hunter Murphy at 149 pounds, junior Frank Mercurio at 165 pounds and junior Clayton Higelmire at 184 pounds.
- The fourth-place finishers were junior Garret Cleveland at 125 pounds, sophomore Adam Hall at 165 pounds and freshman Dominick Wilson at 285 pounds.
- Freshman Hiram Robinson placed fifth at 184 pounds.
- Freshman Liam Kinjorski at 157 pounds and sophomore Dylan Briggs at 165 pounds secured sixth-place finishes.
- Eighth-place performances were by freshman Channing Perry at 149 pounds, junior Kamyab Kamali at 174 pounds and freshman Austin Engle at 197 pounds.

- The Comets now prepare for the 2019 NCAA Division III Central Regional at Wabash (Ind.) College on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23. The top three wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the 2019 NCAA DIII Championships March 8-9 at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia.
