Jackson secures All-American status at NCAA Wrestling Championships
Olivet College junior Davon Jackson secured All-American status today at the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Seniors Jesse Judge and Austin Kelley also competed at the championships.

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Olivet College junior Davon Jackson secured All-American status today at the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Seniors Jesse Judge and Austin Kelley also competed at the championships.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Unseeded at 165 pounds, Jackson suffered a 23-8 technical fall loss to No. 3 seed Stephen Jarrell from Johnson & Wales (R.I.) College in the opening round. He then had back-to-back pins in the consolation bracket to secure the All-American status. He pinned Nick Herring from the College of New Jersey in three minutes and 30 seconds and Zach Zupan from Cortland State (N.Y.) in two minutes and 13 seconds.
- Seeded No. 6 in the 149-pound bracket, Kelley dropped a 9-7 decision to Aaron Engle from Cornell (Iowa) College in the first round. Kelley bowed out of the championships after being pinned by Cole Erickson from Coe (Iowa) College in 59 seconds.
- Unseeded at 285 pounds, Judge won a pigtail match, 4-3, over John Georges from Rhode Island College. A third-period takedown was the difference in the match. In the first round, Judge fell to No. 8 seed Austin Bellile from Milwaukee (Wis.) School of Engineering, 9-5. Judge then pinned Sam Weinger from Rochester Institute of Technology (N.Y.) in five minutes, and was eliminated after being pinned by Jacob Evans from Waynesburg (Pa.) College.
