Women’s lacrosse team comes up short against Adrian, 18-2
The Olivet College women’s lacrosse team came up short against Adrian College, 18-2, tonight at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team came up short against Adrian College, 18-2, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association game tonight at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Bulldogs scored a goal 16 seconds after the opening draw before adding two more goals to go up 3-0 in the first four minutes and 45 seconds. The Comets scored their first goal with 23:47 left in the first half when senior Cecilia Bayne found the back of the cage off a pass from senior Jessica Doster. Adrian put nine more goals on the scoreboard to take a 12-1 halftime lead.
To start the second half, the Bulldogs netted a goal one minute and 36 seconds into it. Bayne scored her second goal of the game to make the score 13-2. Adrian capped the scoring with five unanswered goals to end the game.
Olivet finished the game with 12 shots, four in the first half and eight in the second half. Bayne led the way with five shots. Sophomore Mary Dalrymple and freshman Paige Harcourt each had two shots. Freshman Marissa Gordon shared for game-high honors in ground balls (seven) and caused turnovers (three). Junior Xavier Vance faced 43 shots and made 12 saves, while playing all 60 minutes in goal.
The Comets are on the road Saturday to face Hope College at noon.
