The Olivet College women’s lacrosse team dropped a 19-4 decision to Benedictine University today at the Village of Lisle-BenU Sports Complex in Lisle, Illinois.
LISLE, Ill. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-4 decision to Benedictine University today at the Village of Lisle-BenU Sports Complex in Lisle, Illinois.
After the Eagles scored the first goal, sophomore Stephanie Robinson tied the game 72 seconds later with an unassisted tally and the first goal of her career. Benedictine answered with five straight goals to go up 6-1. Sophomore Krystin Verran netted a goal off a pass from senior Jessica Doster to make the score 6-2. The Eagles closed the half on 5-1 run, with senior Cecilia Bayne scoring Olivet's goal, to take an 11-3 halftime lead.
Benedictine opened the second half with a 4-0 run for a 15-3 advantage. After Robinson scored her second goal of the game, the Eagles ended the game on another 4-0 run to create the final 19-4 score.
The Comets finished the game with 12 shots, including three each for freshmen Hannah Cook and Marissa Gordon. Doster scooped up a team-best five ground balls. Junior Xavier Vance faced 42 shots in goal and made 12 saves.
Olivet travels down to Ohio to play Defiance College next Thursday, March 24, at 5 p.m.
