Women’s lacrosse: Olivet ends Texas trip with loss at Southwestern
The Olivet College women’s lacrosse team concluded its trip to Texas with a 16-1 loss to Southwestern University this afternoon at Varsity Field in Georgetown, Texas.

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team concluded its trip to Texas with a 16-1 loss to Southwestern University this afternoon at Varsity Field in Georgetown, Texas.
The Pirates led 13-0 at halftime before scoring the first three goals of the second half to take a 16-0 lead. Senior Geri Merrell scored the Comets' only goal with 8:27 remaining in the game. Senior Taylor Guarnaccia was credited with an assist on the goal.
Playing its third game in four days, Olivet was held to five total shots, with Merrell recording a team-leading three. Making her first start of the season in goal, junior Hailey Bond made 17 saves while playing all 60 minutes.
The Comets are now off until Wednesday, April 1, when they travel to play Calvin College for their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener. Game time at Zuidema Field is 6 p.m.
NOTE: Guarnaccia remains two goals shy of becoming the second player in school history to record 100 career goals.
