Women’s lacrosse team falls to Adrian, 21-3
The Olivet College women’s lacrosse team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Adrian College, 21-3, this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Adrian College, 21-3, this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Bulldogs scored the first two goals of the game, the first only 49 seconds into the game and the second at the 25:16 mark. Olivet got on the scoreboard with 23:55 left in the opening half when junior Jazmin Johnson (Grand Rapids/Northview) made a free-position goal. Adrian closed the half with 11 consecutive goals for a 13-1 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs began the second half with a 4-0 run. Junior Geri Merrell (Battle Creek/Lakeview) dented the scoreboard on back-to-back free-position tallies to make the score 17-3. Adrian scored the final four goals of the game, including three by TaShina Sales, to create the final score.
The Comets finished the game with 12 total shots, with Merrell taking a team-leading five. Juniors Taylor Guarnaccia (East Lansing/Haslett) and Mackenzie Inman (Union City) each had two shots. Merrell also scooped up a game-high three ground balls. Freshman Xavier Vance (West Bloomfield) collected three saves, while playing all 60 minutes in the goal.
Olivet pulls the curtain down on the 2014 season Sunday, April 27, when it travels to play Kalamazoo College at 1 p.m.
