ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team lost 18-2 to University of Mount Union (Ohio) today at Purple Raider Stadium in Alliance, Ohio.
Mount Union scored the first four goals and never looked back. Sophomore Taylor Guarnaccia (East Lansing/Haslett) scored the Comets' goal with 25:22 left in the first half. The Purple Raiders netted the final nine goals of the opening half to take a 13-1 lead at the break. In the second half, Mount Union scored five times before sophomore Geri Merrell (Battle Creek/Lakeview) found the back of the net with only two seconds left in the game.
For the game, Olivet had seven shots, including three for Merrell and two for Guarnaccia. Sophomore Sarah Shaw (Grand Haven) faced 35 shots and made 11 saves.
The Comets (2-2) will now open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play next Thursday, April 4, when they travel to play Albion College at 7 p.m.
