Seven Olivet College golfers earn WGCA All-American Scholar Team honors
Seven Olivet College women’s golfers Nicole Deweyert, Taylor Elley, Crystal Lettinga, Logan McLane, Aynslee Myer, Erin Taylor and Rachel Webb have been named to the 2019-20 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. Olivet’s seven honorees are the most in school history for an academic year.
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Seven Olivet College women's golfers Nicole Deweyert, Taylor Elley, Crystal Lettinga, Logan McLane, Aynslee Myer, Erin Taylor and Rachel Webb have been named to the 2019-20 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. Olivet's seven honorees are the most in school history for an academic year.
The criteria for selection are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The student-athlete must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA) and she must have also competed in 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds. Olivet's six golfers were among the 1,401 women's collegiate golfers to be named to the team.
Deweyert earns her fourth consecutive appearance on the WGCA Scholar All-American list. An exercise science major, she ended her collegiate career as the Comets' all-time stroke average leader at 81.5 over 70 career rounds. Deweyert was a four-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) selection, and her career-best 18-hole score was a 72 at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
Elley is also a four-time honoree to this prestigious list. A biology major, she played in 68 career rounds and averaged 88.6 strokes. Elley's career-best 18-hole score was a 76 at the Ironwood Golf Club in Normal, Illinois.
Lettinga is a part of the All-American Scholar Team for the third straight year. A journalism and mass communication major, she is averaging 87.6 strokes over 50 career rounds. Her best score was a 78 at the Ironwood Golf Club.
A business administration major, Taylor has played 30 rounds, and is averaging 87.6 strokes. Her low round was an 80 at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. McLane and Webb are also two-time honorees. A criminal justice major, McLane has a 99.2 stroke average over 25 rounds, and her low score was an 87 at the Indian Mound Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia. An accounting major, Webb is averaging 99.0 strokes over 28 rounds, with a low score of 89 at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
Myer makes her first appearance as a WGCA Scholar All-American. A sports and recreation management major, she played in all 13 rounds during the fall season and averaged 90.7 strokes. Her best 18-hole score was an 82 at the Bedford Valley Country Club.
