Women’s golf team finishes fourth at MIAA Fall Final, places third overall
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in third-place at the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Fall Final. The 36-hole tournament took place at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. With the performance, the Comets placed third in the final MIAA standings.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team finished in third-place at the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Fall Final. The 36-hole tournament took place at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. With the performance, the Comets placed third in the final MIAA standings.

- Play at the tournament started yesterday but was suspended due to rain and course conditions. Golfers played their last 3-5 holes from yesterday this morning and immediately played their final 18 holes.
- The Comets carded a 36-hole score 690 strokes, including a 334 over the first 18 holes.
- Saint Mary's (Ind.) College took first-place at 631 (307-324), followed by Hope College, 665 (327-338) and Trine (Ind.) University, 685 (328-357).
- Hunter Kehoe was the individual medalist with a 149, including one-under par 71 in the first 18 holes.
- Senior Nicole Deweyert completed her 36 holes in 169 strokes.
- Sophomore Erin Taylor was next at 172.
- Freshman Aynslee Myer finished with a 174, including a season-best 82 in the first 18 holes.
- Senior Taylor Elley shot a 176.
- Junior Crystal Lettinga recorded a 181.
- Saint Mary's won the 2019 MIAA title with a six-round total of 1,910 strokes, 100 strokes better than runner-up Hope. The Comets were third at 2,033, followed by Trine at 2,060. Saint Mary's, Hope, Olivet and Trine will now play a 54-hole qualifier in the spring to determine the league's automatic bid for the 2020 NCAA Division III Championships. Hope will host 18 holes on its home course, and the final 36 holes will be played on Saint Mary's home course.
- Deweyert averaged 79.5 strokes over the six MIAA rounds to earn All-MIAA First Team honors. She is now a four-time All-MIAA selection, earning First Team honors in 2017 and 2019, and Second Team honors in 2016 and 2018.
- The Comets will resume their schedule in the spring. Their first tournament will be the George Fox Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Arizona, at the end of Olivet's spring break.
