Women’s golf team wins 2019 Labor Day Classic
The Olivet College women’s golf team took first-place at the 2019 Labor Day Classic, hosted by the Comets’ on their home course, The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. Senior Nicole Deweyert, junior Crystal Lettinga and sophomore Erin Taylor earned All-Tournament honors.

MARSHALL, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team took first-place at the 2019 Labor Day Classic, hosted by the Comets' on their home course, The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. Senior Nicole Deweyert, junior Crystal Lettinga and sophomore Erin Taylor earned All-Tournament honors.

- The Comets finished with a two-round score of 658 strokes to beat runner-up Alma College by 28 strokes. Aquinas College was third at 698, followed by Allegheny (Pa.) College, 704; and Adrian College, 715.
- Morgan Yates from Alma was the tournament medalist with a two-day score of 157 strokes.
- Deweyert placed second in the player standings with a two-round total of 159 strokes. She posted a tournament-best 77 in the today's second round.
- Lettinga and Taylor were part of three-way tie for third-place with identical two-day scores of 165. Taylor led the tournament with five birdies over the two rounds.
- Senior Taylor Elley finished eighth in the individual standings with a 169.
- Freshman Aynslee Myer completed her two rounds in 189 strokes.
- The Comets host the Kyle Campbell Memorial Tournament Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7, at The Medalist. Friday's round has a 2 p.m. shotgun start, and Saturday's round has an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
