FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore Ashley Folleth has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Golfer of the Week.
Folleth tied for third-place in the player standings with a two-round score of 158 strokes at the Comets' home tournament, the Kyle Campbell Invitational Sept. 8-9 at The Medalist Golf Course. Her first round score of 78 was a career-best for a par 72 course and included three birdies and 10 pars. The performance helped Olivet edge MIAA foe Hope College by one stroke in the team standings for a second-place finish.
"Ashley has been really focused this fall," said Olivet head women's golf coach Bill Maas. "The work that she has put into her golf game over the summer has resulted in great rounds to start the season. I only expect her to improve as we play more competitive rounds over the course of the next two months."
Folleth and the Comets return to the course Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16-17, at the Illinois Wesleyan University Fall Invitational.
