Women’s golf team places third at MIAA Jamboree #1
The Olivet College women’s golf team began its pursuit of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship with a third-place finish at the first jamboree of the season. Today’s event was held at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.

MARSHALL, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team began its pursuit of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship with a third-place finish at the first jamboree of the season. Today's event was held at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets posted a 336 team score.
- Hope College won the jamboree with a 309 team score, followed by Saint Mary's (Ind.) College in second at 323. Alma College was 10 strokes behind Olivet with a 346. Trine (Ind.) University and Calvin College tied for fifth with 353s. Adrian College was seventh at 357, followed by Alma College in eighth, 360; and Kalamazoo College in ninth, 520.
- Nicole Meyer was the medalist with an even par 72.
FOR THE COMETS
- Senior Laura Bacso had the Comets' best round with a 76 to finish third in the player standings. She had a 44 on the front nine and a 32 on the back nine. In the back nine, Bacso made four birdies and five pars. The four total birdies was a jamboree-best.
- Sophomore Hayley Cooper was next with an 85.
- Freshman Nicole Deweyert completed her round in 87 strokes.
- Freshmen Ashley Folleth and Molly Morey both shot an 88.
UP NEXT
- The second jamboree is Saturday at the Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Indiana, with Saint Mary's serving as the host school.
