MARSHALL, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team moved up one spot to finish in second-place at the 2016 Labor Day Tee-Off Tournament, played at the Comets' home course, The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets shot a 337 team score and were nine strokes behind Illinois Wesleyan University after Saturday's round.
- Olivet improved by 12 strokes today for a 325, while Illinois Wesleyan shot 11 strokes worse than its first-round score with a 339. Those two numbers allowed the Comets to finish five strokes ahead of Illinois Wesleyan, 662-667.
- Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.) ran away with the tournament title with a two-round score of 612 strokes, including a 300 in today's second round.
- Saint Mary's (Ind.) College was third with a 673 (348-325), followed by Hanover (Ind.) College, 678 (341-337); Cleary University, 690 (345-345); Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.), 700 (355-345); and Franklin (Ind.) College, 723 (367-356).
- Samantha Haubenstock from Washington University was the tournament medalist with a 151 (79-72).
FOR THE COMETS
- Senior Laura Bacso carded a two-day total of 161 (81-80) strokes to finish in eighth-place in the player standings.
- Freshman Nicole Deweyert was 11th in the player standings with a 164 (84-80).
- Freshman Ashley Folleth placed 18th with a 169 (86-83).
- Sophomore Hayley Cooper improved the most for Olivet, shooting eight strokes better in today's round with an 82 for a two-round total of 172 strokes.
- Freshman Molly Morey completed her two rounds in 186 strokes.
UP NEXT
- The Comets will host the Kyle Campbell Classic Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10, at The Medalist. Both rounds feature a shotgun start, 2 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
