Women’s golf team ties for third-place MIAA Playoff #2
The Olivet College women’s golf team tied for third-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff round No. 2 this afternoon at the Ravines Golf Course in Saugatuck.
SAUGATUCK, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team tied for third-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff round No. 2 this afternoon at the Ravines Golf Course in Saugatuck.
The Comets carded a 347 team score to share third-place with Trine (Ind.) University. Hope College won the team title with a 311, and Saint Mary's (Ind.) College was second at 334.
Senior Casey Lamp was third in the player standings with a 78 (36-42). Senior Brooke Kastamo shot an 86 (41-45). Senior Kirstin Langer completed her round in 89 (48-41) strokes. Junior Laura Bacso contributed a 94 (45-49) to Olivet's team score. Freshman Hayley Cooper rounded out the Comets' lineup with a 96 (45-51).
With the final 18 holes to be played tomorrow at the Ravines, Hope leads the way with a 36-hole total of 637 strokes. Saint Mary's is a distant second at 671, followed by Olivet, 685; and Trine, 692. The school with the lowest cumulative team score at the conclusion of tomorrow's round will receive the MIAA's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division National Championships May 10-13 at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
