Women’s golf team places third at MIAA Playoff #1
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in third-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff round No. 1 today at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
MARSHALL, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team finished in third-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff round No. 1 today at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
The Comets posted a 338 team to finish one stroke behind Saint Mary's (Ind.) College and 12 strokes behind Hope College. Trine (Ind.) University was fourth at 345.
Junior Laura Bacso tied for second-place in the player standings with an 81. She was the top golfer in par 4 scoring at +2 and tied for the tournament-lead with three birdies. Senior Brooke Kastamo was a stroke behind at 82 and led all golfers in par 3 scoring at even par. She was also second with 10 pars. Senior Casey Lamp completed her round in 85 strokes, while senior Kirstin Langer had a 90. Freshman Hayley Cooper shot a 94.
The second and third rounds of the playoff will be played Friday and Saturday at the Ravines Golf Course in Saugatuck. The school with the lowest cumulative team after the 54 holes will receive the MIAA's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division National Championships May 10-13 at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
