Women’s golf team shoots season-best 323 at MIAA Jamboree #2
The Olivet College women’s golf team shot a season-best 323 team score but still finished in second-place at the MIAA Jamboree #2, held today at the Milham Park Golf Course in Kalamazoo.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Despite shooting a season-best 323 team score, the Olivet College women's golf team still finished in second-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2, held today at the Milham Park Golf Course in Kalamazoo.
The Comets' 323 team score was bested only by Hope College, who had a 316. Saint Mary's (Ind.) College and Trine (Ind.) University tied for third-place with 329s. Calvin College was fifth at 339, followed by Alma College, 346; Albion College, 356; and Adrian College, 358. Kennedy Hiley from Alma was the medalist with a 74.
Junior Laura Bacso posted Olivet's best score with a 76 to finish second in the player standings. She had a 37 on the front nine and 39 on the back nine. Senior Casey Lamp carded a 79, including a team-best 38 on the back nine. Senior Brooke Kastamo and freshman Hayley Cooper each had an 84. Senior Kirstin Langer was last with an 88.
Olivet participates in the third league jamboree next Thursday, Oct. 1, at The Golf Club at Thornapple Pointe in Grand Rapids.
NOTES: Bacso's 76 was also a career-best. Her previous career-best low round was a 77 in the third round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Classic in March 2015.
