Lamp earns medalist honors at Trine Kick-Off Classic, Comets place second
Senior Casey Lamp earned medalist honors to lead the Olivet College women’s golf team to a season-opening second-place finish at the Trine (Ind.) University Kick-Off Classic, held today at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola.
ANGOLA, Ind. – Senior Casey Lamp earned medalist honors to lead the Olivet College women's golf team to a season-opening second-place finish at the Trine (Ind.) University Kick-Off Classic, held today at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola.
Lamp's 79 helped the Comets post a 348 team score. The host Thunder used their home course to an advantage to win the tournament by 12 strokes over Olivet. Wheaton (Ill.) College took third-place with a 350. Albion College was fourth at 365, followed by tie for fifth between Cleary University and Thomas More (Ky.) College with 366s.
Lamp had a 39 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine for her 79. Senior Brooke Kastamo carded an 87 to share 11th-place in the player standings with two other golfers. Junior Laura Bacso and senior Kirstin Langer each completed their round in 91 strokes. Freshman Ashley Potter was a stroke behind with a 92. Freshman Hayley Cooper played as an individual scorer at shot an 88.
The Comets are now off until next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 5-6, when they host the Labor Day Tee-off Tournament at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. Action starts Saturday morning at 11:45 a.m., and Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
