Women's Golf: Trio named to WGCA All-American Scholar Team
A trio of Olivet College women’s golfers -- Brooke Kastamo, Kirstin Langer and Allyson Schultz -- have been named to the 2014-15 WGCA All-American Scholar Team.
OLIVET, Mich. -- A trio of Olivet College women's golfers -- Brooke Kastamo, Kirstin Langer and Allyson Schultz -- have been named to the 2014-15 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team.
Kastamo and Langer will be seniors this upcoming academic year, and Schultz will be a junior. Kastamo and Langer are now three-time selections, while Schulz is a two-time pick.
The criteria for selection are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The student-athlete must have a a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average and she must have also competed in 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds.
Kastamo is an exercise science major, Langer is majoring in biology, and Schultz is an actuarial science major. The trio helped the Comets place second in both the 2014 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship standings and also finish second the 2015 MIAA NCAA Automatic Qualifying Tournament. Kastamo is a three-time All-MIAA selection, including a first-team pick in 2014.
