Women’s golf: Olivet places 12th at WashU Spring Invitational
The Olivet College women’s golf team placed 12th (out of 15 schools) at the Fourth Annual Washington University-St. Louis Spring Invitational at the Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Illinois.
MADISON, Ill. – The Olivet College women's golf team placed 12th (out of 15 schools) at the Fourth Annual Washington University-St. Louis Spring Invitational at the Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Illinois.
The Comets posted a two-round total of 707 strokes to finish 24 strokes ahead of 13th-place Saint Mary's (Ind.) College but six strokes behind 11th-place Trine (Ind.) University . William Woods (Mo.) University captured the team title with a tournament-record 605 team score. The host Bears and Wittenberg (Ohio) University shared second-place in the team standings with 630s.
Sophomore Laura Bacso had Olivet's top second-round score with an 88, which gave her a two-day total of 177 strokes. Junior Brooke Kastamo carded the Comets' best two-day score with a 172 (82-90). Juniors Casey Lamp and Kirstin Langer each completed their two rounds in 179 total strokes at 87-92 and 88-91, respectively. Sophomore Allyson Schultz was not far behind with a 181 (89-92).
The Comets return to the course Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12, at the Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling. The tournament will take place at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois.
