Women’s golf: Olivet finishes second at season-finale tournament and overall standings

Kastamo earns first-team All-MIAA honors; Bacso and Lamp are second-team All-MIAA picks
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team finished in second-place at this weekend's two-day season-finale tournament. With the performance, the Comets also place second in the final overall standings.
Olivet had a two-round total of 667 strokes. Hope College took first place with a 633. Saint Mary's (Ind.) College edged Trine (Ind.) University by two strokes for third-place, 695-697. Calvin College was third at 714, followed by Adrian College, 738; Albion College, 768; Alma College, 790; and Kalamazoo College, 855.
Junior Casey Lamp was third in the player standings with a 160. Junior Brooke Kastamo carded a 165. Sophomore Laura Bacso had a 168. Freshman Kyla Kurczewski finished with a 174. Sophomore Allyson Schultz completed her two rounds in 185 strokes. Junior Kirstin Langer played as an individual and shot a 177.
Hope captured the 2014 MIAA Championship with a six-round total of 1,940 strokes. The Comets were the runner-ups at 2,022 strokes. Saint Mary's was third at 2,059 and Trine was fourth at 2,088 strokes. These four teams will participate in the spring qualifying tournament to determine the league's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA DIII National Championships.
At the conclusion of today's tournament, it was announced Kastamo earned first-team All-MIAA honors. She is now a three-time All-MIAA selection after being a second-team honoree in 2012 and 2013. Lamp and Bacso were second-team selections. Lamp is now a three-time second-team All-MIAA choice.
