Women’s golf: Olivet is runner-up at MIAA Jamboree #3
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in second-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #3 today at The Ravines Golf Course in Saugatuck.
SAUGATUCK, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team finished in second-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #3 today at The Ravines Golf Course in Saugatuck.
The Comets had a 341 team score to finish 22 strokes behind the host Flying Dutch from Hope College. Trine (Ind.) University edged Saint Mary's (Ind.) College by two strokes for third-place, 351-353.
Junior Brooke Kastamo led Olivet with an 82 to place seventh in the player standings. Junior Casey Lamp was one stroke behind with an 83 to tie Hope's Nicole Meyer for eighth-place. Sophomore Laura Bacso finished with an 87, followed by junior Kirstin Langer with an 89. Freshman Kyla Kurczewski completed her round in 92 strokes.
With its win, Hope increases its lead in the overall standings with a three-round total of 967 strokes. The Comets move into second-place with 1,013 strokes, while Saint Mary's slips to third with a 1,015. Trine is fourth at 1,027.
The final jamboree of the season is Saturday at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian. After that, the teams will gather for the season-finale tournament next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11, at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
