Women’s golf: Comets place third at second MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in third-place at the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree today at the Pine River Country Club in Alma.
ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team finished in third-place at the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree today at the Pine River Country Club in Alma.
The Comets posted a 337 team score. Hope College took first-place with a 318, followed by Saint Mary's (Ind.) College at 324. With the score, Olivet slips to third in the overall league standings with a two-round total of 672 strokes. Hope maintains first at 648, while Saint Mary's moves into second at 662.
In today's round, the Comets' top three golfers were each separated by one stroke. Junior Brooke Kastamo had an 82, followed by junior Casey Lamp, 83; and freshman Kyla Kurczewski, 84. Sophomore Laura Bacso contributed an 88 to the team score. Junior Kirstin Langer finished her round in 98 strokes. Sophomore Allyson Schultz was an individual scorer and shot a career-best 85.
Hope hosts the third MIAA Jamboree next Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Ravines Golf Course in Saugatuck.
