Women’s Basketball: Olivet downed by Trine, 66-47

ANGOLA, Ind. – The University of Olivet women's basketball team lost 66-47 to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Trine (Ind.) University tonight inside the MTI Center.
- Final Score: Trine 66, Olivet 47

- Records: Olivet 9-15 overall, 6-9 MIAA; Trine 17-7 overall, 11-4 MIAA
- The Comets stayed within reach early in the game, tying the score twice. After the second time at 4-4, the Thunder went on a 9-1 run to go up 13-5. Trine extended its lead to 12 points, 19-7, at the end of the first quarter.
- Trine built the advantage to as many as 17 points on two occasions in the second quarter. Olivet creeped back into the game to trail by only 10 points, 29-19. The Thunder netted 10 of the final 12 points of the quarter to take a 39-21 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
- The Comets outscored Trine, 13-12, in the third quarter to trail by 17 points, 51-34, to begin the fourth period. Olivet closed the gap to 14 points when senior Savannah Pavoni made a three-pointer on its first possession of the final quarter. The Comets did not get any closer for the remainder of the game.
- Pavoni and freshman Savannah Brewer each scored eight points.
- Freshman Anna Honnen was next with six points.
- Freshman Ellie Baynes grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, followed by freshman Christina Malackanich with 10.
- Baynes tallied a team-leading four assists.
- Senior Lily Connelly recorded two steals. She needs one more to move into a tie for 10th all-time at Olivet.
- The Comets end their regular season schedule Saturday with a road game at Calvin University, starting at 3 p.m.
