Women’s Basketball: Olivet drops 65-48 game to Albion

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet women's basketball team lost 65-48 to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College today at the Cutler Event Center.

- There was one lead change and a tied score in the first two minutes of the game. The Britons led by five points before a three-pointer by sophomore Kinsley Hatfield cut the Comets' deficit down to two points, 10-8, with 2:54 remaining in the opening period. Albion scored the next four points to push its advantage to six points. Olivet closed the gap to three points after Hatfield made another triple. The Britons netted three of the final four points of the quarter to lead by six points, 18-12, at the end of it.
- Albion outscored the Comets, 20-12, in the second quarter to stretch its lead to 14 points, 38-24, at halftime.
- In the third quarter, Olivet trimmed its shortfall down to 11 points twice. After the second time at 42-31, the Britons used a 12-2 run over the last five minutes of the quarter to take a 54-33 lead into the fourth quarter. The closest the Comets got in the fourth period was 12 points on two occasions.
- Senior Lily Connelly scored 11 points to lead Olivet. She also had five assists.
- Freshman Christina Malackanich had 10 points to go along with five rebounds and three blocks.
- Freshman Savannah Brewer grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
- The Comets host Saint Mary's (Ind.) College next Wednesday, February 7, at 6 p.m. Prior to the game, Olivet will recognize their seniors who will play in their final home game.
