Women’s basketball team suffers 76-27 loss to No. 3-ranked Hope
The Olivet College women’s basketball team dropped a 76-27 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader and nationally-ranked Hope College today at the Upton Center Gymnasium.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team dropped a 76-27 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader and nationally-ranked Hope College today at the Upton Center Gymnasium.

Records: Hope 18-0 overall, 9-0 MIAA; Olivet 4-14 overall, 1-8 MIAA
- The Flying Dutch made their first seven baskets, including four from behind the arc, to build an 18-2 lead. Hope led 26-4 at the end of the first quarter. Both teams scored 11 points in the second quarter to create a 37-15 halftime score. The Flying Dutch out-scored the Comets, 39-12, in the second half.
- Freshman Hannah Brown and senior Tammy Lee each scored seven points.
- Freshman Zara Weber added five points.
- Senior Jazmin Hildebrand came off the bench to grab a team-best six rebounds, including four on the offensive glass.
- Sixteen players saw action in the game.
- Lauren Newman made 5-of-6 baskets for a game-best 15 points.
- Kenedy Schoonveld contributed 10 points.
- Courtney Barnes had a team-high six rebounds.
- The Flying Dutch entered the game ranked No. 3 in both the D3hoops.com and Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 polls.
- The Comets head to Alma, Michigan, next Wednesday, Jan. 29, to play Alma College at 7:30 p.m.
