OLIVET, Mich. – Senior Jillian Nickels scored a career-high 19 points but the Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Lawrence Technological University, 76-55, in a non-conference matinee at The Cutler Event Center in Ohio.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- At the 5:29 mark of the first quarter, the Comets held a 5-2 lead.
- The Blue Devils then scored 10 straight points to go up 12-5 with 14 seconds remaining in the opening quarter.
- Junior Ayren Parrish banked in a three-pointer at the buzzer to make the score 12-8 after one period.
- Lawrence Tech seized its largest lead of the game, 32-15, with under one minute left in the second quarter.
- Olivet netted the final four points of the period to trail by 13 points, 32-19, at halftime.
- Twice in the third quarter, the Comets were able to get their deficit down to single digits. The last time was 36-27 at the 6:34 mark.
- The Blue Devils pushed their lead back to double figures with a three-pointer and the lead stayed that way for the rest of the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Nickels made seven baskets, including four from behind the arc, and a free throw for her 19 points.
- Senior Katie McKinnon joined her in double figures with 12 points, while contributing a team-best four steals.
- Senior T'Keyia Collins and freshman Jazmin Hildebrand each grabbed five rebounds.
FOR THE BLUE DEVILS
- Nicole Buckingham scored a team-best 15 points.
- Danielle Hanson and Alexis Ayala came off the bench to score 14 and 10 points, respectively.
- Allison Kitchen pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
UP NEXT
- Olivet is now off until next Thursday and Friday, Dec. 29-30, when it participates in the Capital University/Marriott Holiday Classic in Columbus, Ohio. The Comets play the host Crusaders in a first round game Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The other first round game features University of Wis.-Whitewater vs. Case Western Reserve (Ohio) University. The consolation game will be play Friday at 3 p.m., with the championship game to follow at approximately 5 p.m.
