Olivet College’s Ciba named to Academic All-District VI team
Olivet College senior guard Chelsea Ciba (Olivet) has been named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District VI Women’s Basketball honors, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior guard Chelsea Ciba (Olivet) has been named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District VI Women's Basketball honors, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America. She now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division III ballot, where first-, second- and third-team honorees will be selected in mid-February.
Ciba, who carries a 4.0 grade point average in journalism and mass communications, has started all 19 games for the Comets. She is second on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game, shooting 43.0 percent (102-of-137) from the field. Ciba has a 2.02 assist-turnover ratio with 91 assists and 45 turnovers. She leads the team with 33 steals.
Ciba has led the Comets to a 16-3 overall record, including an 8-2 mark against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opponents. The 16 wins is already a single-season school record. Olivet had its school-record 11 game win streak snapped last night with a loss to MIAA leader Hope College.
The Comets return to the floor Saturday when they host Alma College. Tip-off at The Cutler Event Center is 3 p.m.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
