Olivet College’s Smith tabbed MIAA Position Player of the Week
Olivet College senior Taylor Smith has been tabbed the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week for softball. She is being honored for the first time in her career.
FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College senior Taylor Smith has been tabbed the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week for softball. She is being honored for the first time in her career.
Smith posted a .429 batting average in leading the Comets to a 5-1 record in their last six games at The Spring Games in Florida. Of her nine hits in 21 at-bats, one was a double and four were home runs for a 1.048 slugging percentage. In addition, Smith drove in a team-best 14 runs, tied for the team lead with five runs scored and struck out only once. Combined with her five home runs last season, she is tied for third all-time with nine career homers.
Smith and the Comets return to the diamond for a non-conference doubleheader at Defiance (Ohio) College.
