Men’s cross country team finishes in sixth-place at MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College men’s cross country team finished in sixth-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Jamboree, hosted by Hope College today at the West Ottawa Golf Club in Holland.
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's cross country team finished in sixth-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Jamboree, hosted by Hope College today at the West Ottawa Golf Club in Holland.
The men totaled 156 points to finish ahead of Kalamazoo College, 183; and Alma College, 192. Calvin College had five of the top 10 finishers to take first-place with 22 points. Hope College was the runner-up with 57 points, followed by Trine (Ind.) University, 106; Albion College, 122; and Adrian College, 125.
Sophomore Bruce Baker was the Comets' top finisher, as he crossed the line in 18th-place with a time of 26:27.8. Sophomore Mark Smith placed 32nd with a time of 27:01.2, while senior Nicholas Roberge-Ferris and junior Blake Wilson were 34th (27:19.0) and 35th (27:20.2), respectively. Junior Connor Bauserman was not far behind in 37th at 27:30.1.
"We raced well today as a team," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "We are able to move up throughout the race. The conditions were great for racing so took advantage of the course and weather to set a lot of personal-best times. We saw huge improvements from our last race and expect more improvements throughout the season."
Olivet is idle until Friday, Oct. 9, when it runs at the Lansing Community College Invitational.
