Men’s volleyball team splits two matches at North Park Triangular
The Olivet College men’s volleyball team split two non-conference matches this afternoon at the North Park (Ill.) University Triangular this afternoon at North Park Gymnasium in Chicago, Illinois. After being swept by Robert Morris-Chicago University in three sets, the Comets bounced back to defeat the host Vikings in four sets.

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team split two non-conference matches this afternoon at the North Park (Ill.) University Triangular this afternoon at North Park Gymnasium in Chicago, Illinois. After being swept by Robert Morris-Chicago University in three sets, the Comets bounced back to defeat the host Vikings in four sets.

- In the first set, the Eagles led 7-4. The Comets went on a 5-1 run to take a 9-8 lead. Robert Morris answered with a 4-1 run to go up 12-10. Olivet closed the gap to a single point on five occasions. After the last time at 17-16, the Eagles ended the set on an 8-4 run to win the set 25-20.
- With the exception of ties at 1-1 and 2-2, Robert Morris never trailed in the second set.
- The Comets had a one-point lead on seven occasions in the third set. With Olivet holding an 11-10 lead, the Eagles scored three straight points and did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the set.
- Juniors Brock Pringle and Trent Robinson finished with six kills apiece.
- Junior Aaron Giorgi recorded 17 set assists.
- Giorgi and sophomore Tanner Gardenour each tallied six digs.
- Nicholas Allen slammed down a match-high 14 kills, followed by Manny Andrade with 11.
- Bobby Ying dished out 32 set assists.
- Andrade and Troy Teske collected nine digs apiece.

- The Comets raced out to an 11-2 lead in the first set. The Vikings fought back to trim their deficit down to four points, 24-20. A kill by Pringle ended the set in Olivet's favor.
- In the second set, the Comets used five kills and three North Park attack errors to jump out to an 8-0 lead. The Vikings were never able to recover from that deficit.
- Olivet led 9-4 in the third set. North Park came back with an 11-5 run to take its first lead 15-14. The Comets answered with a 6-2 run to go up 20-17. The Vikings put the eight of the final 11 points on the scoreboard to win the set 25-23.
- The Comets never trailed in the fourth set. Their largest lead in the set was eight points.
- For the match, Olivet posted a .242 attack percentage compared to .033 for the Vikings. The Comets had 53 kills to 32 for North Park.
- Pringle led all players with 15 kills.
- Sophomore Dan Hayes joined him in double figures with 12 kills and recorded a .391 hitting percentage.
- Giorgi added a team-leading 45 set assists and 12 digs.
- Junior Zach Pringle was next with 11 digs.
- Daniel Porche had a team-best 11 kills.
- Moises Zavala recorded 30 set assists.
- Colin Wong tallied a match-high 16 digs.
- Olivet is idle until Friday, March 15, when it travels to play Loras (Iowa) College at 8 p.m.
