Men’s volleyball team ends season with three-set loss at Hiram
The Olivet College men’s volleyball team ended its season with a three-set loss to Hiram (Ohio) College this afternoon at Price Gymnasium in Hiram, Ohio.

HIRAM, Ohio – The Olivet College men's volleyball team ended its season with a three-set loss to Hiram (Ohio) College this afternoon at Price Gymnasium in Hiram, Ohio.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Hiram def. Olivet 27-25, 25-17, 25-23
Location: Price Gym; Hiram, Ohio
Records: Olivet 6-17 overall, Hiram 6-24 overall
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers built a 10-6 lead in the first set. The Comets chipped away at their deficit and took their first lead, 15-14. After Olivet led by two points, 17-15, Hiram went on a 6-0 run to go up 21-17. The Terriers had set point at 24-19 before the Comets used a 5-0 scoring spurt to level the score. Hiram scored the next point but Olivet answered with a kill to tie the set. Two Comet attack errors ended the set in favor of the Terriers, 27-25.
- Hiram had a wire-to-wire lead in the second set.
- In the third set, Olivet held a four-point cushion, 11-7. The Comets held the lead until the Terriers used a 4-0 run to gain a 16-14 lead. Hiram did not relinquish its lead for the rest of the set. Olivet did cut the gap to a single point on three occasions, with the last time being 24-23.
FOR THE COMETS
- Sophomore Brock Pringle led Olivet with nine kills and six blocks (four solo and two assisted).
- Sophomore Trent Robinson had eight kills, followed by freshman Dan Hayes and senior Rhett Pringle each with six.
- Sophomore Aaron Giorgi tallied a team-leading 27 set assists and nine digs.
FOR THE TERRIERS
- Alex Andrzejewski topped Hiram with 12 kills and 11 digs.
- Craig Capwell and Andrew Gard had six kills apiece.
- Jake Lininger dished out 26 set assists.
RHETT PRINGLE
- Rhett Pringle played in his final collegiate volleyball match. He ends his career as Olivet's all-time leader with 47 service aces, and second with 333 kills. In 2018, Pringle broke the single-season record with 22 service aces.
QUICK LOOK AT RECORD BOOK
- As a team, Olivet won six matches in 2018, which is one more win than the previous two years combined. The Comets also broke the single-season team records for kills (793), attack attempts (2,286), set assists (743), service aces (95) and digs (771).
- Robinson set a single-season record with 206 kills and .291 attack percentage.
- Giorgi now holds the single-season record with 502 set assists.
- Freshman Tanner Gardenour broke the single-season record with 159 digs.
