Robinson’s 18 kills help men’s volleyball team beat Calumet-St. Joseph in four sets
Sophomore Trent Robinson slammed down a match-high 18 kills to lead the Olivet College men’s volleyball team to a four-set victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) this afternoon at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Comets won the first set 25-22 before the Crimson Wave won the second set by an identical 25-22 score. Olivet earned 25-17 and 25-20 victories in the third and fourth sets.

OLIVET, Mich. – Sophomore Trent Robinson slammed down a match-high 18 kills to lead the Olivet College men's volleyball team to a four-set victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) this afternoon at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Comets won the first set 25-22 before the Crimson Wave won the second set by an identical 25-22 score. Olivet earned 25-17 and 25-20 victories in the third and fourth sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crimson Wave held a 22-20 lead late in the first set. The Comets scored the final five points of the set to claim the come-from-behind win. During the final run, senior Rhett Pringle had a kill and two service aces.
- In the second set, Olivet had an eight-point advantage, 14-6. Calumet chipped away at its deficit and eventually took a 22-21 lead. The Comets tied the set before the Crimson Wave scored the final three points for the 25-22 win.
- In the third set, Olivet turned a 7-4 deficit into a 12-8 lead with an 8-1 run. The Comets did not relinquish their lead for the rest of the set.
- Olivet led the fourth set from start-to-finish. For the set, the Comets scored 20 of their 25 points on kills and posted a .457 attack percentage.
FOR THE COMETS
- For the match, Olivet tallied 54 kills to 38 for Calumet.
- In addition to his 18 kills, Robinson had the second-best attack percentage in school history for a match at .552.
- Sophomore Brock Pringle recorded 14 kills.
- Rhett Pringle and sophomore Logan Blough each had seven kills.
- Sophomore Aaron Giorgi posted a double-double with a team-high 44 set assists and 12 digs.
- Brock Pringle, freshman Tanner Gardenour and sophomore Zach Pringle finished with eight digs apiece.
FOR THE CRIMSON WAVE
- Liam Fagan registered a team-high nine kills and 13 digs.
- Trevor Wagner and Tim Williams each had eight kills.
- Roberto Morales collected 31 assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Today's match was the first-ever in school history against the Crimson Wave. Calumet fielded a club volleyball team in 2017 before the program was elevated to varsity status for this season.

- Olivet concludes a five-game home-stand next Friday, Feb. 9, when Illinois Institute of Technology visits The Cutler Event Center for a 7 p.m. match.
