Men’s volleyball team downed by North Central in straight sets
The Olivet College men’s volleyball team lost in three sets to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) foe North Central (Ill.) College this afternoon at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team lost in three sets to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) foe North Central (Ill.) College this afternoon at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
THE BASICS
Final Score: North Central def. Olivet 25-15, 25-14, 25-17
Location: The Cutler Event Center; Olivet, Mich.
Records: North Central 12-6 overall, 8-4 MCVL; Olivet 2-14 overall, 0-12 MCVL
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The only time the Cardinals trailed in the first set was when the score was 1-0. North Central scored the next three points and never gave up the lead for the remainder of the set.
- The Cardinals put seven of the first eight points on the scoreboard in the second set. The closes the Comets would get for the rest of the set was four points at 10-6.
- North Central raced out to an 8-3 advantage in the third set. Behind the service of freshman Aaron Giorgi, Olivet cut its deficit down to a single point, 8-7. The Cardinals answered with a 4-2 run to go back up by three points, 12-9. The Comets battled back to even the score twice. After the last time at 13-13, North Central went on a 5-0 scoring spurt to gain an 18-13 lead. Olivet was never able to recover from the deficit.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet registered 23 total kills in the match, including 10 in the third set.
- Senior Luke DeWitt topped the Comets with seven kills, followed by freshman Andrew McCormick with five, and freshmen Brock Pringle and Trent Robinson with four apiece.
- Freshman Mathew Caamal had a match-best 21 set assists.
- Freshman Zach Pringle led the defense with seven digs.
FOR THE CARDINALS
- Jacob Zemba and Jake Braceros each had six kills, as North Central totaled 28 kills in the match.
- Braceros also recorded a match-high eight digs.
- Raymond Kraus played in just the first two sets and dished out a team-best 15 set assists.

- Olivet continues MCVL play Friday and Saturday with matches near Chicago. On Friday night, the Comets will face Benedictine University at 8 p.m. ET, and on Saturday afternoon, they battle Dominican University at 2 p.m. ET.
