FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team fell to Marian (Wis.) University in a three-set match tonight at Howard L. Sadoff Gymnasium in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
THE BASICS

Records: Marian 7-11 overall, 4-7 MCVL; Olivet 2-9 overall, 0-7 MCVL
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets had a brief 2-0 lead in the opening set. The Sabres scored eight of the next nine points to go up 8-3 and never trailed for the rest of the set.
- With the exception of two tied scores at 1-1 and 2-2, Marian led the entire second set.
- Following a 4-4 tie in the third set, Olivet went on a 5-0 run to go up 9-4. The Comets eventually led by as many as 10 points, 22-12. The Sabres battled back to make the score 24-22 before an attack error handed the set to Olivet.
- The Comets led by six points, 8-2, in the fourth set. Marian responded with a 7-0 scoring run to take the lead 9-8. Olivet evened the score twice at 9-9 and 10-10 before the Sabres scored two straight points to gain a 12-10 lead. The Comets closed the gap to a single point three times late in the set, with the last time being 22-21. Marian used three kills for three of the final four points of the set and match.
FOR THE COMETS
- For the match, Olivet posted a .189 attack percentage.
- Freshman Trent Robinson recorded 14 kills with only one error on 22 attempts for a team-best .591 attack percentage.
- Freshman Andrew McCormick and Brock Pringle were next with nine and eight kills, respectively.
- Senior Luke DeWitt had five kills to go along with a team-best four blocks.
- Freshman Mathew Caamal recorded 31 set assists.
- Pringle topped the defense with nine digs.
FOR THE SABRES
- Marian had a .282 attack percentage.
- Jon Smallpage led the way with a match-high 18 kills.
- Ben Walter joined him in double figures with 12 kills.
- Joey Dittman posted a team-high in set assists (42) and digs (seven).
