Men’s volleyball team swept by Benedictine in three sets
The Olivet College men’s volleyball team was swept by Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) rival Benedictine (Ill.) University in three sets tonight at The Cutler Center in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team was swept by Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) rival Benedictine (Ill.) University in three sets tonight at The Cutler Center in Olivet.
THE BASICS

Records: Benedictine 5-6 overall, 4-3 MCVL; Olivet 1-5 overall, 0-4 MCVL
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Benedictine led the first set from start-to-finish.
- In the second set, Olivet led by four points twice, 10-6 and 11-7. The Eagles fought back and took a 14-13 lead. The Comets responded by tying the set on four occasions, with the last time being 18-18. After Benedictine scored the next two points to go up 20-18, Olivet answered with a 4-0 run for its own two-point cushion, 22-20. The Eagles then put the five of the final six points of the set on the scoreboard to win it 25-23.
- In the third set, Benedictine raced out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back.
FOR THE COMETS
- Freshman Andrew McCormick led Olivet with eight kills.
- Senior Luke DeWitt had five kills to go along with a team-best three blocks and .231 attack percentage.
- Freshmen Mathew Caamal and Aaron Giorgi split time at the setter position, recording 11 and six assists, respectively.
- Junior libero Talen Schallhorn collected a team-leading seven digs.
FOR THE EAGLES
- Nick Malak finished with a match-high nine kills, while Elijah Medlock had eight kills.
- Joe Lock dished out 16 set assists.
- Medlock also had a game-best 10 digs.

- Olivet is back in action tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. when it hosts Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University.
