Men’s volleyball team upended by North Central

The Comets scored the first point of the opening set before the Cardinals put the next two points on the scoreboard. Olivet tied the set at 2-2. North Central then scored the next two points to go up 4-2 and did not relinquish its lead for the rest of the set. Late in the set, Olivet had a 3-0 scoring run to close to within four points, 18-14.
In the second set, the Comets held a 2-1 lead. The Cardinals went on a 6-0 scoring spurt to go up 7-2. North Central did not give up the lead for the rest of the set. Olivet scored the first point of the third set before the Cardinals put six consecutive points on the scoreboard for a 6-1 advantage. The Comets scored the next point but never got any closer for the rest of the set.
Olivet finished with the match with 18 total kills, including a team-best nine for sophomore Luke Dewitt. He recorded four errors on 27 attempts for a team-high .185 attack percentage. Sophomore Talen Schallhorn led the team with 15 set assists. Senior Blake Burk and sophomore Jeremiah Cowham each had five digs.
The Comets welcome the Loras (Iowa) College Duhawks to Olivet for a 1 p.m. match tomorrow afternoon.
