Men’s volleyball team bows to Siena Heights
The Olivet College men’s volleyball team was defeated by Siena Heights University in three sets, 25-7, 25-14 and 25-21, tonight at the SHU Fieldhouse in Adrian.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team was defeated by Siena Heights University in three sets, 25-7, 25-14 and 25-21, tonight at the SHU Fieldhouse in Adrian.
The Saints led wire-to-wire in the first set. The Comets had a pair of one-point leads, 6-5 and 7-6, in the second set. Siena Heights scored four straight points to go up 10-6 and did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the set. Olivet scored the first four points of the second set and eventually led by as many as six points on two occasions, 13-7 and 20-14. The Saints scored 11 of the final 12 points to win the set, 25-21.
Sophomore Rhett Pringle paced the Comets with eight kills. He had three attack errors on 20 tries for a .250 hitting percentage. Sophomore Luke Dewitt finished with four kills. Sophomore Talen Schallhorn recorded 14 set assists, and sophomore Jeremiah Cowham topped the defense with eight digs.
Olivet resumes Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League play this Friday and Saturday with two home matches. On Friday night at 7 p.m., the Comets face North Central (Ill.) College, and on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., they play Loras (Iowa) College.
