Men’s volleyball team suffers three-set loss to Siena Heights
The Olivet College men’s volleyball team suffered a three-set loss (25-12, 25-9, 25-13) to Siena Heights University tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team suffered a three-set loss (25-12, 25-9, 25-13) to Siena Heights University tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
The Saints led the first two sets from start-to-finish. The beginning of the third was evenly matched. The Comets held a pair of one-point leads, 1-0 and 2-1. Siena Heights surged ahead by two points on three occasions, with the last time being 9-7. Olivet scored the next two points to tie the set at 9-9. The Saints put the next three points on the scoreboard, and did not trail for the rest of the set.
The Comets finished the match with 15 kills, including seven by sophomore Luke Dewitt. He also had four assisted blocks. Sophomore Jeremiah Cowham and senior Colin Sheehan each had three. Cowham had only one attack error on 18 attempts for a team-best .111 hitting percentage. Sophomore Talen Schallhorn recorded 14 set assists. Senior Blake Burk dug up a team-high 13 balls.
The Comets return to the court this Friday and Saturday for two Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League matches. On Friday night, they will play at Greenville (Ill.) College at 8 p.m. EST, and on Saturday, they will play a 3 p.m. EST match at Fontbonne (Mo.) University.
