Men’s volleyball team loses twice at MSJ Triangular
The Olivet College men’s volleyball team fell to both Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University and Marymount (Va.) University in three sets today at Oak Hills Christian School in Cincinnati, Ohio.

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Olivet College men's volleyball team fell to both Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University and Marymount (Va.) University in three sets today at Oak Hills Christian School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Against MSJ, the Lions opened the first set with a 5-1 lead. Olivet battled back to tie the set four times. After the last one at 8-8, MSJ scored eight straight points to go up 16-8. The Comets would close to seven points on three occasions before the Lions pulled away for a 25-16 win.
Olivet scored the first point of the second set. MSJ scored the next two points to take a 2-1 lead. The Lions did not give the advantage for the remainder of the set, winning it 25-8. MSJ held the lead in the third set from start-to-finish.
For the match, sophomore Jeremiah Cowham had a team-best nine kills and .200 attack percentage. Sophomore Luke Dewitt finished with four kills. Sophomore Talen Schallhorn topped the team with 13 set assists. Senior libero Blake Burk tied for match-high honors with seven digs.
The only time the Comets led against Marymount was briefly at the beginning of the first and third sets. The Saints won by scores of 25-14, 25-7 and 25-12. For the match, Dewitt led Olivet with 11 kills. Schallhorn finished with 16 set assists, and shared team-high honors with Burk in digs with four apiece.
The Comets are off until Wednesday, March 2, when it hosts Siena Heights University at 7 p.m.
