Men’s Track & Field: Brown’s records help Olivet place fifth at MIAA Field Day

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Senior Jordon Brown broke two championship records, as The University of Olivet men's track and field team finished fifth at 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day, hosted by Calvin University and at the Gainey Athletic Complex.
- The Comets recorded 85 points. Trine (Ind.) University captured the MIAA title with 185 points to edge second-place Hope College by seven points. Albion College was third with 130 points, followed by the host Knights with 101.
- Brown repeated as the MIAA champion in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. His winning times, 21.02 and 47.19 seconds, broke the school and MIAA championship records. They also moved him up to No. 7 in the 200 and No. 9 in the 400 on the NCAA Division III Performance List.
- Freshman DeVondre Chandler captured the MIAA title in the high jump, clearing the bar at 6 feet, 5-1/2 inches.
- Brown was joined by sophomore Dontal Wright, freshman Luke Leighton and sophomore Jonathan Holloway to finish second in the 4x400-meter relay with the third-fastest time in school history at 3:16.56.
- Holloway placed third in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking-in with the all-time third-quickest time at 56.12 seconds.
- Brown, Wright, freshman Kyle Redd and Holloway were seventh in the 4x100-meter relay with the eighth-fastest time in school history at 42.89 seconds.
- Senior Chris Davis finished sixth in the 1,500-meter run (4:04.61) and eighth in the 800-meter run (2:07.25).
- Wright tallied a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash (50.30).
- Freshman Owen Fremeau posted the fourth-best mark in the discus throw (136 feet, 10 inches).
- Freshman Austin Cole was not far behind in the discus, placing eighth (127 feet, 3 inches).
- Freshman Peter Moore was sixth in the triple jump, with a season-best mark of 41 feet, 1 inch.
- The Comets are planning to send a group of student-athletes to last chance meets over the next two weeks.
