Fremeau named MIAA Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Freshman Owen Fremeau from The University of Olivet has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
At the Murray State (Ky.) Margaret Simmons Invitational, Fremeau finished second in the discus with a school-record throw (48.35 meters / 151 feet, 1 inch), third in the shot put (14.40 meters / 47 feet, 3 inches) and seventh in the hammer throw (43.25 meters / 141 feet, 11 inches). His performances in the discus and shot put currently rank first in the MIAA, and the mark in the hammer sits fourth in the MIAA.
"Owen works hard every day whether he is in the weight room, at practice or at a competition," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "He enjoys challenging himself to improve on his performances. Coach Daustin (Martin) has done a tremendous job developing Owen throughout the year and we know this is just the beginning of what we are going to see from him."
Fremeau and the Comets are back in action Friday at the Alma College Triangular.
