Brown wins two events, men’s indoor track and field team places fifth at MIAA Championship
ANGOLA, Ind. – Led by senior Jordon Brown, the Olivet College men’s indoor track and field team finished in fifth-place at the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship. Trine (Ind.) University hosted the championship at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center. The Comets recorded 62 points. Trine won the MIAA Championship with 156 points.

ANGOLA, Ind. – Led by senior Jordon Brown, the Olivet College men's indoor track and field team finished in fifth-place at the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship. Trine (Ind.) University hosted the championship at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center. The Comets recorded 62 points. Trine won the MIAA Championship with 156 points.
- Brown captured the MIAA title in the 200- and 400-meter dashes, and was third in the long jump. His winning times were a school-record 22.07 seconds in the 200 and 49.33 seconds in the 400. Brown's mark in the long jump was 21 feet, 2 inches.
- Olivet captured the distance medley relay team title for the second straight year. Running on the relay this year were freshman Noah Feudi, senior Hayden Germain, freshman Jonathan Holloway and senior Chase Mendham, and their time was 10:30.40.
- Germain finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.83.
- Mendham took fourth in the mile run with a time of 4:27.72.
- Senior John C Downey ran to an eighth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.79). During the prelims, he had a personal best at 9.25 seconds.
- Junior Chris Davis placed eighth in the 5,000-meter run (15:39.64).
- The 4x400-meter relay quartet of Holloway, Mendham, Germain and Brown capped the meet with a fourth-place finish at 3:28.04.
- Senior Byron Pearce had the top performances in the field events. He was fourth in the shot put (48 feet, 5-1/4 inches) and fifth in the weight throw (52 feet, 6-1/2 inches). Both were personal bests and the weight throw mark broke the school record.
- A few members of the team will compete next weekend at a last chance meet.
